Humanitarna organizacija „Zajednica Susret“

We have been operating in the Republic of Croatia for three decades now. Our core activity is prevention and out-of-hospital treatment of addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other forms of addiction. The activity of Zajednica Susret is based on the social program called “Projekt Čovjek” which places the focus first on an individual and only then on the problem at hand.  The project is structured, and it has no religious connotations.  In our community work, we place a great emphasis on the protection of human rights, with the focus on those groups that are placed on the margins of the society. Drugs addicts, who are at the very centre of our activity, most certainly rank among those on the margin that need help so that they do not evolve into a threat to their families and the society in general. The promotion and protection of human rights, with the focus on vulnerable groups, regardless of gender, education, nation and religion, is woven into the very fabric of our work. Our activity is based on the work for public benefit and wellbeing, with full acknowledgement of each person’s innate right to dignity, and the right to equal treatment for all members of the family and the society in general.  The promotion and protection of human rights, with the focus on vulnerable groups, regardless of gender, education, nation and religion, is woven into the very fabric of our work. (Megálló Group Foundation)

Megálló Group Foundation was established based on a citizens’ initiative in 1997. The institution’s profile was initially defined by the people who followed their values and devotion, who consider themselves rehabilitated abstainers, and set example for others, or people affected by alcoholism or drug addiction for their relatives or co-workers. Megálló got the prize titled “The Civil Organization of the Year” in Hungary awarded by the NIOK Foundation (National Innovation Education Centre) in 2007.
Megálló Group Foundation for Drug Addicts is a member of the Hungarian Association of Drug and Other Addiction Prevention Organizations, the European Federation for Street Children (EFSC) and EURO TC (European Treatment Centre for Drug Addiction).
In the Open Door program, we offer low-threshold care (an average of 450 people / year). People coming to the Megálló are welcomed by employees in the service who provide them help through information, conversation, attention and care. We are social institution working in an integrated format, providing day care and community care for addicts (the number of clients: 50 + 40 people).
In the framework of a special study program for preparation and re-integration, young people who have not finished school because of their drug problem (number of clients/students: 35 person at maximum) can study and pass the school-leaving exam.
Every week we organize group therapy for self-discovery, theatre and music therapy groups, family groups, sports activities (table tennis, football, climbing) and we also provide preventive services for schools and institutions dedicated to childcare.
